Our Sorbeo Horse Bedding pellets have found an unexpected new purpose, helping to keep a group of school ducks happy, clean and comfortable.
St Peter’s CE Primary School in Cassington, Oxfordshire, has been using Sorbeo for its five White Pekin ducks after Land Energy donated a supply to support the school’s growing Forest School project.
The school recently raised more than £1,000 to build a new duck run, with pupils, staff and volunteers all playing a part in caring for the ducks. Nearly half of the school is now involved in the day-to-day care of the ducks and chickens, with volunteer “duck leaders” helping to keep everything running smoothly.
School Administrator Emily Lemaire explained that caring for the ducks can be expensive, making the donation from Land Energy especially welcome. Sorbeo has helped to keep the ducks’ sleeping areas clean, dry and comfortable, creating a healthier environment while reducing the amount of maintenance required.
David Bone, Communications Officer at Land Energy, said:
“We are always keen to support schools and community groups that help strengthen our relationship with the natural world, while contributing to our goal of creating real environmental gain and encouraging wider community engagement.”
He added:
“We are very proud to support St Peter’s CE Primary School and its ducks with Sorbeo in what we believe is an unconventional first.”
It’s a great example of how products made by Land Energy can make a positive difference in unexpected ways, have a wide variety of uses, all while helping local communities and inspiring young people to engage with nature.
