£1000 Biosphere Grants Available for Small-Scale Tree Planting in Ayrshire
The Ayrshire Small Scale Tree Planting Programme is continuing throughout 2025/26, offering grants of up to £1,000 to support the planting of native trees across South and East Ayrshire within the UNESCO Biosphere region.
Now in its third year, the scheme has already helped plant more than 2,700 trees since 2023. Backed by South Ayrshire Council, Scottish Forestry, the Woodland Trust and Land Energy, it aims to boost biodiversity and green spaces for people and wildlife alike.
Individuals, businesses, community groups and landowners can apply for funding to cover trees, guards, fencing and more. Non-profit organisations can also claim up to 100% of costs for labour and site preparation.
Typical projects include planting small copses, treelines, and orchards. All helping to increase native broadleaf woodland, which currently covers less than 1% of Ayrshire.
Project lead Antoine Lemaire from the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere Partnership said,
“We’ve seen a fantastic response since the scheme launched, with communities, landowners and schools all helping to create new spaces where people and wildlife can connect.”
So, how do you apply? Applications are simple and open now. You can learn more or apply here: www.gsabiosphere.org.uk/natureandwildlife/biosphere-ayrshire-tree-planting-grant/ or email or phone Antoine on 07469646937 or at [email protected]
