International postgraduate students studying MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management at the University of the West of Scotland recently visited Land Energy’s manufacturing facility in Girvan for an immersive supply chain learning experience.
The students, who arrived in the UK in September 2025, used the visit to connect their academic knowledge with real world business practice at our South Ayrshire factory.
The Business of Briquettes
The day began with an in-depth overview of Land Energy’s operations, offering insight into how our procurement, wood pellet production and distribution processes work within the UK’s renewable energy sector.
Following the presentation, students took part in a guided tour of the Girvan site, seeing first-hand how sustainable wood pellets and briquettes are manufactured at scale.
Working in groups, the students then analysed key aspects of our procurement and supply chain functions. They then presented their findings and recommendations directly to members of our management team, demonstrating not only their academic understanding but also their ability to apply strategic thinking in a busy live business environment.
