We’re delighted that Land Energy has been named the winner of the Net Zero Innovation Award at the 2026 Confor (Confederation of Forest Industries) Forestry and Timber Awards, held in Edinburgh in March 2026.
The award recognises organisations that are making a clear and measurable contribution to reducing carbon emissions and supporting the UK forestry and wood industries in their progress towards net zero. Sponsored by Tilhill Forestry, the category celebrates innovation and leadership in developing solutions that help deliver the UK’s net zero ambitions.
Winning this award is a proud moment for the entire Land Energy team and highlights the work being done across the business to support sustainable forestry, strengthen the UK wood fuel supply chain and provide reliable, low-carbon heating for homes and businesses.
Simon Bullock, Head of New Business Development at Land Energy, said:
“It is amazing to be recognised by the forestry sector for our commitment towards a low-carbon, net zero future for Scotland and the UK. Our entire production process uses no fossil fuels, and everyone in the Land Energy team works towards creating Real Environmental Gain.”
“We would like to thank Confor, Tilhill, the people who nominated us (we don’t know who they are!) and all the other attendees in what was a very strong field that really showed the amazing talent in our industry and one we are all proud to be part of.”
“Taking forward the vision of our founding directors, we aim to decarbonise hard-to-heat, off-grid properties and extend that mission into a wide range of wood-based products, each designed with low-carbon performance at its core.”
“Our latest innovations will continue to build on this decarbonisation work, while also expanding our focus into new industries where low-carbon materials can make a meaningful impact.”
“None of this progress would be possible without the dedication of the wider forestry sector. By leading the way in sustainable forest management, developing new approaches to decarbonising logistics, and supplying responsibly sourced timber, the sector provides the essential low-carbon feedstock that underpins the solutions of the future.”
Land Energy was shortlisted alongside a strong group of finalists including Alexander Mackinnon, founding member of the Project Developer Association, Cheshire East Council’s Net Zero Woodland Creation Programme and Dr Vicky West (MICFor), who played a crucial role in developing the Woodland Carbon Code.
The Confor Forestry and Timber Awards celebrate excellence and innovation across the entire UK forestry and timber industry. This year’s trophies were crafted by Ipswich-based woodturner Shaun Clifford.
