At Land Energy, we believe in supporting the communities and organisations that help keep local traditions, skills and opportunities alive for future generations.
That’s why we are proud to support the Strathendrick Pipe Band Association with a £1,000 donation to help fund the band’s activities throughout the year.
Based in Blanefield, north of Glasgow, the Strathendrick Pipe Band Association was formed shortly after the Second World War by demobbed Home Guard members. Since then, the band has continued to play an important role in introducing young people to traditional Scottish music while helping them develop new skills, confidence and lifelong friendships.
Today, the association operates as both a teaching and competing band, welcoming children and young adults from across Glasgow, Stirlingshire and Dunbartonshire.
Our donation will help support travel costs for competitions during the season.
Paul May, bass drummer with the Strathendrick Pipe Band, said:
“This donation will help massively towards travel costs this year and our intention is to take all our youth members to the last competition of the year in Rothesay, where they will have the chance to experience the closing parade marching down the High Street with the full band, hopefully while holding a trophy!”
He added:
“Keeping a pipe band running week to week is an expensive business, and we rely on fundraising and donations to pay for instruments, uniforms and travel.”
David Bone, Communications Officer at Land Energy, said:
“We are exceptionally proud to support the Strathendrick Pipe Band Association. Organisations like this provide young people with valuable life experiences, opportunities to learn new skills and increase their cultural capital.”
